Davis brought with him more than a quarter-century of experience in the Virginia broadcast world when he stepped into the role of senior vice president and regional manager of Nexstar Media Group in 2017. His first broadcasting job in the region was at WVEC-TV, followed by stints as local sales manager of Norfolk’s WAVY-TV 10, station manager for WVBT-TV FOX43, and then president and general manager of WAVY and WVBT, the latter being the position he held for a dozen years before joining Nexstar.
The Duke University alumnus oversees Nexstar stations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
In October 2022, Nexstar acquired The CW Network. In June, Nexstar announced that stations it owns in Philadelphia; San Francisco; and Tampa, Florida; would become affiliates of The CW beginning Sept. 1. Virginia and the other markets that Davis oversees were not on that list.
