Parkinson has been CEO at Drake Extrusion Inc. for over 20 years. He is an accounting and finance graduate of the U.K.’s Lancaster University.
Drake Extrusion bills itself as North America’s leading producer of polypropylene-based colored filament yarn and staple fiber. Filament yarn is primarily used by customers in the business of producing fabrics for the furniture industry, while staple fiber is used for production in a variety of areas including flooring, rugs, furniture, technical filters, car interiors and nonwoven fabrics. The company has 230 employees and is owned by Swiss filament yarn and staple fiber manufacturer Duroc AB.
Parkinson serves on the GO Virginia Region 3 Council and the board of Virginia Career Works West Piedmont Region, part of the state’s workforce development initiative. He also serves as secretary-treasurer on the board of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth, the chamber’s charitable affiliate.
