Bhatia joined Japanese-owned Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp. (TMEIC) in 2003 as general manager of operations for Toshiba and Mitsubishi’s U.S.-based joint venture with General Electric that ultimately became TMEIC Americas, a regional subsidiary that designs and develops advanced automation systems, large AC and DC motors and photovoltaic inverters.
During his career at TMEIC, Bhatia served as chief operating officer for the North American branch and held executive positions in Europe and Asia. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions in engineering and sales for GE’s operations in Europe, Asia and in Roanoke County.
As of 2021, Bhatia leads TMEIC’s operations in Roanoke and Katy, Texas. In 2022, TMEIC Corp. acquired Spanish maritime terminal business Orbita Ingenieria S.L.’s ports and terminals division for an undisclosed amount.
A graduate of Gulbarga University in India with a degree in electronics and communication, Bhatia spent 11 years at General Electric before joining TMEIC.
