After John D. Gottwald retired in 2019, Steitz became president and CEO of the plastic films and aluminum extrusions manufacturing company. Steitz had previously served as CEO of Addivant Corp., a global supplier of polymer additives, following tenures as president and chief operating officer of PQ Corp. and as COO of Albemarle Corp., an Ethyl Corp. spinoff.
Steitz served as a director of Innophos Holdings Inc., a producer of specialty-grade phosphate products, from 2008 until its 2020 acquisition by a private equity firm. A chemical engineering graduate of the University of Missouri, Steitz earned his MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Another spinoff of Ethyl Corp., Tredegar, dates to 1989 and now operates under parent company NewMarket Corp., with facilities in North America, South America and Asia.
