You were a member of the House of Delegates for 24 years and chairman of the Courts of Justice Committee for 12. What is it like now being outside of state government but trying to influence its direction? Having been on the “inside” helps me know what to do on the “outside.” Serving in the House and being the longest serving chairman of the Courts of Justice Committee in its 291-year history, helps me understand the pressures and divergent interests with which elected officials have to balance. In the end, it is always about their constituents!  The best lobbyists know this, tell both sides of the story and are always honest.

What issues are you involved in and who will you be lobbying? Contrary to the “bad rap” legislators and lobbyists get, legislators are nice people who want to make the right decisions, and lobbyists, while still being advocates, are honest information providers. As a 24-year member of the House’s two busiest committees, I developed first-hand expertise on nearly every issue and mastered the legislative process. I will be helping my clients achieve their goals by providing Virginia legislative and executive branch members this much needed trustworthy information.
