Edwards and his team at Phlow are pursuing a monumental goal.
In May 2020, just four months after Edwards co-founded Phlow, the Trump administration awarded the company $354 million to create a domestic supply chain for COVID-19 drugs and other essential drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients in short supply.
Phlow has partnered with VCU’s Medicines for All, Civica Rx, AMPAC Fine Chemicals, and United States Pharmacopeia to accomplish its mission.
In July, Politico reported that while Phlow has met some of the federal contract’s stipulations, it has missed a deadline to manufacture low-cost, generic drugs in the U.S., concerning industry experts.
Edwards says he’s proud of Phlow’s accomplishments —adding millions of doses of essential COVID-19 medicines to America’s national stockpile and securing active ingredients on U.S. soil.
Edwards also co-founded Kaléo Inc., which produces autoinjectors for allergies and drug overdoses. He serves on the boards of Activation Capital and Food Allergy Science Initiative Inc.
