Now leading a health care system that cares for more than 500,000 people, Carrier began her journey in the health care profession in the early 1990s as a part-time medical record clerk in a physician’s practice. Over the course of her career, she has worked at every level in nonclinical roles at hospitals, health systems and doctors’ offices. In 2021, she became president and CEO of Centra Health. Before that, she served as market president of Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System.
She serves as a board member of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, and she co-chairs VHHA’s Workforce Steering Committee.
BEST ADVICE FOR OTHERS: Spend more time listening than talking, seek first to understand before attempting to improve, and use every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.
