A threat across multiple platforms, Sabato is a New York Times best-selling author, a four-time Emmy winner for his PBS television documentaries, and one of social media’s most prolific political prognosticators. No one who knew Sabato in his days as U.Va.’s student government president would
be surprised.

A Norfolk-born Rhodes scholar with degrees from U.Va. and Oxford, Sabato is the founder and director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics and a recipient of U.Va.’s highest faculty honor, the Thomas Jefferson Award.

He has been a professor of political science at the university since 1978.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball, an online political newsletter and election handicapper that predicts outcomes in statewide and national races, maintains a strong following thanks to political junkies and interested voters. During the Trump presidency, Sabato was highly critical of the president, and the Virginia Republican Party called for U.Va. to investigate Sabato over his tweets.
