With more than 1,300 employees, Cognosante works with federal and state governments to expand access to and improve delivery of health care. Kang founded the company in 2008 and this year became majority owner of the Washington Spirit, the National Women’s Soccer League 2021 champion.
Kang is an advocate for minorities, veterans and women. In 2021, Cognosante partnered with historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as well as with women’s STEM programs to offer training and career development. In January, the company won a $545 million U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contract to build a medical logistics system. It merged with Fox Systems in 2010, opening the door to Medicaid contracts.
Previously vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman’s health IT division, Kang has degrees from the University of Chicago and the Yale School of Management. She serves on the board of the Washington National Opera.
In June, the Palm Beach Daily News reported that Kang sold her oceanfront condo there for $15 million, the third-priciest sale ever in Palm Beach. She purchased it for
$5.5 million in September 2020.
