Ryan’s best advice for others is “to never stop being a student of your industry,” he told WashingtonExec in April.

Ryan has led the private, global risk management firm since early 2021, after serving as its lead director. It was established as a holding company for a portfolio of contracting firms that provide security, construction, unmanned aerial surveillance, base operations support and other services in 50 countries. One of those firms, Triple Canopy Inc., in 2014 acquired Academi LLC, the military contractor formerly known as Blackwater. In March, Triple Canopy won a 10-year, $1.3 billion State Department contract for security and other services at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Constellis reported more than $1.3 billion in revenue in 2021 and employs more than 14,000 people. A former Marine infantry commander and intelligence officer with a degree from Ohio State University, Ryan also is a National Intelligence University graduate and held senior leadership roles at the Department of Defense before moving to the private sector, where he was CEO of VT Group and president and chief operating officer of ManTech’s emerging markets group.

He serves on the board of the National Intelligence University Foundation.
