Martin joined Google Cloud in December 2021 after spending eight years as vice president of government, education and health care at another cloud services provider, VMware Inc.
In June, Google announced the creation of Google Public Sector, a subsidiary focused on bringing Google Cloud technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, to federal, state and local government customers and educational institutions. The new sector, which will have a separate board, includes specialized sales, customer engineering, support, channel and partner programs, and security operations. As part of the announcement, Martin’s role expanded to include leading the public sector’s go-to-market organization.
Martin, a University of Maryland graduate who has more than 30 years in the industry, has also held leadership positions in the public sector arms of Hewlett-Packard Co., Compaq and Digital Equipment Corp. She has been named to FedScoop’s “D.C.’s Top 50 Women in Tech” several times.
