As the world faces a semiconductor chip shortage, Micron leadership has urged support for billions of dollars to expand domestic production.
Parks joined Micron in January 2021 to oversee its Manassas manufacturing lab. A 2019 expansion of the facility remains the largest economic deal in state history, with more than $3 billion in investments and 1,000 new jobs planned by 2030. Micron already employs more than 1,600 workers in Virginia and about 45,000 people globally. It reported more than $27.7 billion in revenue in 2021.
Parks worked as an electrician in high school; he started his career with Philips in electronics and in 2004 moved to Texas Instruments Inc., where he rose through the ranks to become site manager for multiple factories.
Parks is passionate about volunteering and serves on the Northern Virginia Technology Council’s board, the Virginia Business Higher Education Council and George Mason University’s President’s Innovation Advisory Council. In June, Gov. Glenn Youngkin reappointed Parks to serve on the board of visitors for Norfolk State University, where Micron recently opened a 6,000-square-foot clean room. Parks holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.
