Smith joined Parsons, a Fortune 1000 federal defense contractor, in 2016 as president of its federal solutions business, leading the acquisition and integration of four companies and helping take the company public in 2019. She was tapped as the defense contractor’s new CEO in 2021, a promotion from her previous post as president and chief operating officer.
Before joining Parsons, Smith held executive roles at Honeywell and Lockheed Martin, and she has degrees in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern and Syracuse universities.
In January, Parsons’ board of directors unanimously elected Smith chairwoman. She succeeded Charles “Chuck” Harrington, who served as executive chairman and retired after 40 years with the company.
In May, Parsons closed on the $400 million acquisition of Reston-based Xator Corp. It’s expected to help grow Parsons’ client base, adding the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Special Operations Command.
