In October, Townes-Whitley will succeed Nazzic S. Keene as SAIC’s CEO, the Fortune 500 contractor announced in May. She also will replace Keene on SAIC’s board, with Keene staying on as a special adviser through February 2024. Townes-Whitley comes to the $7 billion, 26,000-employee SAIC from Microsoft, where she served as president of U.S. Regulated Industries. She previously led CGI Federal and held management roles at Unisys. She joined SAIC as CEO-elect in June.

At Microsoft, she helped build the company’s ethics framework for artificial intelligence and sponsored a Microsoft group for Black and African employees.

A graduate of Princeton University, Townes-Whitley serves on Nasdaq’s board, as well as boards for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Partnership for Public Service and the Princeton University Faith & Work Initiative. She earned certifications from Wharton Executive Education, New York University and the Performance Management Institute. She also volunteered for the Peace Corps after college, working as a village teacher in Gabon.
