Riddle was named chairman and CEO of North America and president of its division in April, succeeding Thomas Bell, who left to become CEO of Leidos Holdings.

Riddle has worked for the British aero-engineering company’s defense branch for more than a decade. He most recently headed up its global services operations, which accounts for more than half of Rolls-Royce’s Defence unit’s annual revenues. Before that, he was director of strategy and future programs, which included winning contracts for the Air Force’s B-52 aircraft’s replacement engines, a deal that could reach $2.6 billion, and providing the propulsion system for the V-280 Valor for the Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft program.

Prior to Rolls-Royce, Riddle worked for Boeing’s defense operations. He is a West Point graduate and former U.S. Army officer.

In 2022, Rolls-Royce Holdings reported about $16.11 billion in underlying revenue, up from about $13.98 billion in 2021. Its defense unit reported about $4.65 billion in underlying revenue, up from approximately $4.3 billion in 2021.
