Intel lobbied for legislation to restore U.S. manufacturing of semiconductor chips following a global shortage during the pandemic. As leader of the technology company’s federal business unit, which it created in 2011, Brinker oversees strategy, business development, contracts and finance for its federal contracting activity.
Intel has received contracts to provide services to the Defense Department under a program to develop a U.S.-based commercial semiconductor foundry system, including a $172.7 million award it shares with Qorvo. The company also announced it would spend $20 billion on production facilities in Arizona. In April, it announced a memorandum of understanding with Lockheed Martin to help advance 5G communications for the Pentagon.
A University of Florida alum, Brinker joined Intel in 2015 after serving as vice president of Silicon Graphics Federal LLC. At Intel, Brinker directed extreme-scale computing before taking on the role of senior director of worldwide sales for data center sales. He was named to his current role in 2019.
He is a three-time Executive Mosaic Wash100 award winner, and WashingtonExec named him one of its Top 35 Execs to Watch in 2022.
