The U.S. Census Bureau (USCB) has awarded Fairfax-based business and technology consulting company Customer Value Partners Inc. (CVP) a $17 million contract to help with data collection and analysis for the 2020 Census, the company announced Wednesday.

“The U.S. Census Bureau gathers critical information to help our country run more efficiently,”  CVP Founder and CEO Anirudh Kulkarni said in a statement. “CVP is honored to have been chosen to support the agency’s data collection operations for the decennial census as well as other demographic and economic programs.”

During the next two-and-a-half years, CVP will provide software maintenance support, control systems development, control systems business analysis and survey authoring.

Data from the Census will be used to allot funding for public services including schools, hospitals and fire departments as well as business development and home development planning. It also will determine how many House of Representatives seats each state will be allocated. The data collected includes information regarding demographics and economics.

CVP was founded in 2002 and has strategic partnerships with Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), MuleSoft Inc., Pegasystems Inc. and UI Path.
