Richmond-based freight forwarding company Estes Forwarding Worldwide (EFW) announced Thursday the establishment of EFW Warehousing LLC as a result of its acquisition of Lewis Logistics, a warehousing, distribution and logistics company.

EFW is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Estes Express Lines and provides domestic and international freight forwarding and logistics services. EFW Warehousing will be a full-service warehousing network covering Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Greensboro, North Carolina; Atlanta; Chicago; Dallas; and Los Angeles.

“Acquiring Lewis Logistics will allow us to elevate our ability to provide integrated supply chain solutions to our customers,” EFW President and CEO Scott Fisher said in a statement. “In its fifty-year history, Lewis Logistics has established itself as a premier warehousing solutions provider, committed to excellence. The company’s depth of experience and great cultural fit will strengthen and benefit our mutual clients as well as our employees.”

Jonathan Worth will serve as EFW Warehousing’s president and will be based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“The expansion of EFW Warehousing comes at a time when demand for shorter-term, project-related warehousing is on the rise — an area in which we excel,” Fisher said in a statement. “Lewis Logistics has built a very successful supply chain practice in the long-term, contract logistics arena, which complements our plans for expansion and aligns with our vision.”
