In 2022, DuVal partnered with the Virginia Farm Bureau, the state’s real estate community and more than 100 local and regional chambers across the commonwealth to successfully win expanded and lower-cost health care coverage for small business owners. Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed the legislation earlier this year. The chamber also formed the Virginia Small Business Health Alliance, a grouping that will bring together thousands of small businesses as a self-funded insurance group, spreading risks and lowering administrative costs.
One of the state’s most connected leaders, DuVal has led the state’s chamber since 2010. He previously was Virginia’s secretary of commerce and trade, the mayor of Newport News, president and CEO of DuVal Associates Inc. real estate firm, and president and CEO of Kaufman & Canoles Consulting LLC.
A graduate of James Madison University and American University’s Washington College of Law, DuVal also is working with the governor and members of the General Assembly to implement Blueprint Virginia 2030, a business-led economic development strategic plan.
