In 2021, Romanello helped Henrico attract multiple major investments totaling $489 million, including a giant Amazon.com Inc. robotic fulfillment center near Richmond Raceway and expansions of SimpliSafe, Mondelez International Inc. and Red River Foods Groups Inc. This July, QTS Data Centers announced it would be embarking on a 200-acre, 1.5 million-square-foot expansion of its data center campus in Sandston.
Romanello, who earned degrees from the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University, also has been instrumental in attracting the $2.3 billion GreenCity project. Expected to break ground by early 2023 on the site of the former Best Products Co. corporate headquarters campus, the mixed-use development’s plans include a 17,000-seat arena.
ONE THING I’D CHANGE ABOUT VIRGINIA: We need to fix north-south transportation. Once among our greatest assets, Interstate 95 is becoming one of Virginia’s deficits.
