Greystar broke ground Wednesday on The Commodore, a 20-story building with 423 apartments in Arlington.

Located at 2025 15th St. N. in the Courthouse neighborhood, the building has an expected completion of fall 2023. The ground level will have almost 18,000 square feet of retail space, and the development will have varying apartment sizes, from micro-units to three-bedroom penthouses. It will include a coworking space, a children’s playroom and a clubroom, as well as a pool and rooftop.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Arlington County to redevelop the Courthouse Landmark site into a world-class, mixed-use project in the heart of the Rosslyn Ballston corridor,” John Clarkson, managing director of development for Greystar, said in a statement. “The Commodore will deliver much needed housing and placemaking retail at the seat of Arlington County government and bridge the gap between the Rosslyn and Clarendon metro stations.”

Founded in 1993, Greystar offers investment management, development and rental properties management. The company manages an estimated $220 billion of real estate in more than 210 markets throughout North America, Europe, South America and the Asia-Pacific region, according to a news release.
