Suit has led Virginia’s largest trade association, Virginia Realtors, since 2013. Her career in real estate began in 1985 and later transitioned into a 20-year career in mortgage lending.

In 1996, Suit received a gubernatorial appointment to the Virginia Real Estate Board, and from 2000 to 2008 she served in the Virginia House of Delegates, where she represented parts of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.

A Republican, she chaired the House of Delegates’ General Laws committee and Virginia Housing Commission. Suit later served as Virginia’s first secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security under Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Reared in a military family and born in Orléans, France, Suit graduated from Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s in political science. She completed her MBA at the University of Mary Washington. In 2022, Gov. Glenn Youngkin appointed Suit to Mary Washington’s board of visitors; her first term ends next year.
