The construction division of Virginia-Beach based Armada Hoffler Properties Inc. has landed a big project on Baltimore’s waterfront.
The company announced that Armada Hoffler Construction Co. has signed a contract with Harbor Point developer Beatty Development Group to begin construction on a 900,000-square-foot, mixed-use tower. According to Armada Hoffler, the contract is worth $165 million.
The Harbor Point project will include office, garage, residential apartment and retail components and is one of the last major development sites on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The building will become the headquarters to Exelon’s Constellation business unit. Based in Chicago, Exelon is a competitive energy provider.
Construction is expected to start in the spring with completion in spring 2016. Armada Hoffler Construction provides general contracting services to third-party clients and has operated in the Baltimore Inner Harbor since 1993, building more than $1 billion in projects. Signature properties include the Four Seasons Hotel, Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel and Conference Center, and Legg Mason Global Headquarters.
“The reputation and experience that we’ve earned in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor over the last two decades led to this important win,” Eric Apperson, president of Armada Hoffler Construction Co., said in a statement. “We are excited to be a part of the Harbor Point project and the continued development of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.”
