BAE Systems Inc. lands $350M+ in defense contracts

Arlington-based defense company BAE Systems Inc. (a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based BAE Systems plc) announced Monday it has won a $211.6 million U.S. Navy contract and a $144 million U.S. Air Force contract.

BAE Systems’ ship repair business in Jacksonville, Florida, will work on the U.S. Navy contract and update, repair and maintain two Arleigh Burke-class destroyer ships. Projects under the contract include an extended dry-docking for the USS Carney and depot-level modernization of the USS Winston Churchill, according to the Department of Defense. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by July 2022, according to the DoD.

For the five-year U.S. Air Force contract, BAE System’s information and electronic systems integration business will work on U.S. Air Force platforms avionics and electronic components. The company will provide sustainment, repair and engineering services for B-52 and B1-B bomber aircraft, AN/ALQ-155 power management systems, USM-638 radio frequency transmission line test equipment and ASQ-151 electro-optical viewing systems, according to the DoD. Work on the contract will be performed in New York, New Hampshire and San Diego through March 22, 2026.

BAE Systems Inc. employs approximately 35,100 people across the U.S., U.K., Sweden and Israel. The company generated $11.4 billion in sales last year. BAE Systems Inc. is an independent U.S. subsidiary of England-based BAE Systems plc, one of Europe’s top defense contractors.
