Arlington-based aerospace and defense contractor Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES) acquired radio frequency (RF) and high-performance computing solutions provider Colorado Engineering Inc. (CEI), the company announced last Friday.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“With a shared customer-first culture and passion for solving the most challenging electronic breakthroughs needed in our industry, I am excited to have CEI join our company and continue our successful partnership together,” CAES President and CEO Mike Kahn said in a statement. “The combination of CAES’ RF and integrated microwave assembly and deep manufacturing expertise with CEI’s advanced technology and digital systems engineering prowess allows us to deliver agile and differentiated solutions to our customers.”

Founded in 2003, Colorado Springs-based CEI provides technology solutions for the commercial, industrial, automotive and military industries, focusing on RF, digital, and analog hardware and software solutions.

“Both CEI and CAES have a passion for engineering and innovation,” CEI CEO Nancy Scally said in a statement. “Working as one, we will be able to deliver more benefits to our customers and employees.”

Founded in 1934, CAES provides mixed-signal (analog and digital) and radiation-hardened technology for the U.S. aerospace and defense industry. The company employs more than 3,600 people in the U.S., United Kingdom and Sweden.
