Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Wednesday that -based building materials and millwork manufacturer Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems will invest $11.5 million to expand operations into , creating 154 jobs.

According to the governor’s office, a new facility in Newport News will manufacture roof and floor trusses, prefabricated structural wall panels and custom and stock millwork for residential and commercial construction. The site, which aims to expand production capacity and geographic reach, is the company’s third major facility. Annandale is headquartered in Winchester and has additional operations in New Jersey.

“Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems’ is another strong example of Virginia’s pro-business climate delivering real results for our communities,” Youngkin said in a statement. “I congratulate the company on its continued growth, its significant investment in Newport News, and its commitment to supporting Virginia’s forestry industry.”

The expansion also includes a commitment to purchase more than $6 million in Virginia-grown forest products over the next three years.

William C. Frogale founded Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems in 1952 as a small, family-run lumber and millwork operation in Annandale, part of Fairfax County. According to the governor’s office, the company’s mass-produced pre-hung interior and exterior door units significantly reduced labor time and helped transform residential construction practices throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

After Frogale died in 1995, leadership transitioned to his son, current president Rob Frogale, who has kept the company independent and family-owned.

“As demand continues to grow, expanding our operations to Newport News allows us to better serve our customers while creating new jobs in Virginia,” Rob Frogale said in a statement. “This facility strengthens our manufacturing capabilities and positions us for continued growth.”

Frogale did not immediately return requests for comment.

The , the Newport News city government and the supported the project. Youngkin approved a $200,000 grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund, which local funds will match. In a statement, Newport News said the announcement highlights the city’s business environment’s competitiveness.

“We’re proud to welcome Annandale Millwork and Allied Systems Corporation and look forward to the value this investment will provide in making building materials more accessible and affordable for residential and commercial development across our community,” he said.

Annandale serves builders across Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
