Chantilly-based government contractor Amentum announced Thursday that it will open a new worldwide headquarters in Reston in early 2027.
The company has signed a 45,000-square-foot lease at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza, part of the Reston Station development from Comstock Holding. Architect Helmut Jahn designed the 16-story, LEED Gold-certified office tower, which offers direct access to the Washington Metro’s Silver Line.
The financial terms of the lease were not disclosed, and Amentum and Comstock did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In a statement, Amentum Chief Operating Officer Steve Arnette said the company’s investment in Reston “reflects the expanding opportunities of our company and where we are headed.”
“Ultimately, the new headquarters strengthens our ability to deliver integrated solutions aligned with global demand and government priorities, including across our accelerating growth markets of global nuclear energy, space systems and technology and critical digital infrastructure,” he said.
Amentum said it plans to relocate its headquarters from 4800 Westfields Blvd. in Chantilly and said the move to Reston is intended to improve the employee experience and streamline costs.
The company did not disclose how much it is investing in the relocation or whether the move will lead to job creation.
“The state-of-the-art headquarters reflects the innovative, solution-driven culture of our company,” Chief People Officer Darren Burton said in a statement. “It is designed to provide a collaborative environment for our workforce while reinforcing our reputation as a trusted advanced engineering partner dedicated to solving the most pressing challenges across science, security and sustainability.”
With $14.4 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue, Amentum has approximately 50,000 employees in more than 70 countries across all seven continents. The company was founded as a spinout of AECOM’s Management Services Group in 2020 and moved its headquarters from Germantown, Maryland, to Chantilly.
