Accenture Federal Services wins $11.3M Navy contract

Arlington-based Accenture Federal Services has been granted an $11.3 million, 12-month contract to improve the Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) maritime model-based product support (MBPS) family of integrated systems, the company announced Monday.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Dublin, Ireland-based consultancy Accenture, Accenture Federal Services (AFS) will develop a prototype to execute maintenance and supply actions on ships and submarines to prepare for missions ashore and at sea.

“These capabilities will help the Navy enhance material availability and reliability, increase operational availability and reduce associated costs,” said Sean Olson, who leads the Navy account at AFS, in a statement.

NAVSEA consists of four shipyards, 10 warfare centers, four major shipbuilding locations and its Washington, D.C. headquarters. The request for solutions was released on March 20, 2019, and called for a solution to acquire, field and sustain weapon systems’ digital twin, enable predictive analysis, increase operational availability and reduce operation and sustainment costs.

“This MBPS prototype will field the authoritative maritime technical data management/distribution capabilities necessary to execute maintenance and supply actions at the organizational, intermediate and depot levels,” NAVSEA 06L Program Manager Paul Koester said in a statement. “MBPS represents a seismic shift in the way the entire maritime workforce will execute the processes necessary to sustain the warfighter.”

AFS has clients within the national security, federal health, military and civilian services industries.
