In 2000, Gadams founded Marathon Development Group, known for its commercial and residential projects in Hampton Roads, including the Icon Norfolk and the James Apartments residential buildings in Norfolk. Gadams also has led historic renovation projects such as the restoration of the Suffolk Center for
Cultural Arts.
Late last year, Marathon pulled out of a large redevelopment project to turn the 15-acre former Bon Secours DePaul Hospital property into nearly 500 luxury apartments, citing increased interest rates and continued supply chain snarls as insurmount-able challenges.
Gadams is a significant investor in early-stage biotech firms, including Norfolk’s ReAlta Life Sciences, where he is on the board of directors. He also serves
on the board for the Benedictine Schools of Richmond and is one of the founders of the YPO (formerly Young Presidents’ Organization) Virginia chapter.
A James Madison University graduate, Gadams is an avid marathoner and even has run150 miles through the Sahara Desert.
