Springfield-based Versar Inc. has agreed to acquire Johnson Controls' federal security integration business, known as Johnson Controls Security Systems (JCSS) for $20 million.
Based in Gaithersburg, Md., JCSS is a security systems integrator serving federal clients. It designs installs and supports complex physical security, network security and facilities management systems.
The deal is expected to close on or before Sept. 30 if all closing conditions are satisfied.
Tony Otten, Versar’s CEO, described the acquisition as a great strategic fit, “extending our client base, and enabling us to offer additional products and services to our existing clients. An important element of our growth strategy is to leverage our service capabilities to generate more work with our existing clients and to more effectively compete for new customers and projects in the new economic environment.”
Versar is a publicly-traded project management company providing solutions to government and commercial clients in construction management, environmental services, munitions response and professional services market areas.
