First there was doggie day care, a place where pet owners could leave their pets during the workweek. Now there’s Woof Gang Bakery, a place where people can take their pets for tasty treats and grooming.
We’re not just talking bones, here. The store offers gourmet treats that look like fancy iced cookies along with pet supplies, accessories and grooming.
The company, based out of Orlando, Fla., has opened its first Virginia store in Alexandria and will celebrate with a grand opening event on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the store in the Landsdowne Centre at 6462 Landsdowne Centre Drive.
Fairfax resident Mina Kim is the franchise owner of the Alexandria location. Kim worked in her brother’s Woof Gang store in Chapel Hill, N.C. before becoming a franchisee herself. “I believe pets are an integral part of our families, and I am dedicated to providing outstanding service and quality products for all my customers and their four-legged friends,” she said in a statement.
During the grand opening, the first 20 customers to come to the store will receive free dogs treats for a year. The store also will offer a variety of free samples from its bakery line and pet products.
Since the first Woof Gang Bakery opened in 2007, the company has expanded across the U.S. with more than 60 franchises and five corporate locations.
According to the American Pet Products Association, about 82 million homes in the U.S. own a pet. That same group says Americans are expected to spend more than $58 billion this year on pet supplies and care.
