Colliers International in Richmond & Norfolk has hired Daphne S. Berkowitz as senior vice president of brokerage services. In the newly created position, Berkowitz will be a member of the firm’s executive committee and lead a 28-member commercial real estate sales force. Her primary responsibility is to provide management focus and leadership for growing the Colliers brand in the Richmond and Norfolk marketS.
Berkowitz entered the Richmond real estate market in 1989 at Investors Savings Bank, with oversight responsibilities of the then bank-owned subsidiary, S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co. She later moved into a developer-focus role with Figgie Properties, the real estate division of Figgie International (owner/developer of Virginia Center).
During that time, Berkowitz sold more than $100 million in transactions at Virginia Center including multiple residential communities, neighborhood retail centers, as well as the sale of The Crossing Golf Course and iconic former Figgie headquarters (now home to a conference center).
As Tyco International acquired Figgie International, Berkowitz’s role expanded to include the corporate disposition of all of Figgie’s nonperforming corporate real estate located throughout the U.S.
She most recently held positions in business development for both EDC and Branch and Associates.
