Grant Thornton LLP has named Carlos A. Otal managing partner of its Global Public Sector (GPS).
Otal serves as managing partner for Grant Thornton’s GPS Financial Management Advisory and Audit Services. Grant Thornton’s GPS is based in Alexandria.
Otal succeeds Srikant K. Sastry, who became the national managing principal of Grant Thornton’s Advisory Services earlier this year.
Otal joined Grant Thornton in 2005 and has led financial management and systems engagements for a wide variety of clients, including the U.S. departments of the Treasury, Energy and Defense, as well as the U.S. Social Security Administration, Office of Personnel Management and the state of California.
Before joining the firm, Otal was a senior industry executive with Oracle Corp.’s (formerly PeopleSoft Inc.’s) Public Sector group, focusing on the promotion and advancement of enterprise application solutions for the federal government.
Previously, he was an associate partner and senior manager with IBM Business Consulting Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, respectively.
