CR Magazine has named two Virginia-based companies, Altria Group Inc. and Northrop Grumman Corp., to its annual list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens.
Henrico County-based Altria ranks No. 25 on the 2015 list while Falls Church-based Northrop Grumman is No. 66.
The rankings are based on 298 data elements divided among seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, philanthropy and finances.
The magazine reviews publicly available information from companies that are part of the Russell 1000. All data in CR's Corporate Citizenship database are collected and analyzed by IW Financial, a Portland, Maine-based financial analysis firm.
Last year, Atria ranked No. 39 on the list while Northrop Grumman was No. 44.
