HAMPTON ROADS

Richard Rizk was elected by the Virginia General Assembly to serve as the circuit judge in the York-Poquoson courthouse, effective July 1. Robert “Bobby” Scott, named to the newly created position of vice president of agency operations for T. Parker Host, Norfolk. He has been with the company since 1998 when he joined as a boarding agent. Patrick Callahan also joined T. Parker Host’s team at Host Terminals as vice president of terminal operations. Kevin M. Sweeney, a retired Navy rear admiral, named interim president and CEO of the Norfolk-based Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance. He is temporarily filling the vacancy created by the departure of Darryl Gosnell, who stepped down as the head of the regional economic development organization at the end of January. The Patrick Henry Community College Foundation Board has named the following new officers: chairman, Ron Haley; vice chairman, David Purvis; treasurer, Pamela Allen; and secretary, Margie Eason. Haley is president and CEO of River Community Bank, Martinsville; Purvis is the division association director at American Home Furnishings Alliance, High Point, N.C.; and Allen is the finance manager for Piedmont Arts and executive director for Christmas Cheer of Martinsville and Henry County. William Wampler is retiring as executive director of the New College Institute in Martinsville, effective July 15. Wampler, a former state senator, has led the institute since 2012. Larry R. Flynn, the current president of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., will succeed Joseph T. Lombardo as executive vice president of General Dynamics’ Aerospace group when Lombardo retires in June. Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. is a subsidiary of Falls Church-based General Dynamics.
