As a young naval officer, Tata navigated across the Atlantic and back using only celestial navigation. Today, he navigates the Norfolk office of Hunton Andrews Kurth, an $830 million law firm with 435 employees in Virginia and 1,619 employees worldwide.
Tata received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Naval Academy (where he set 17 records as a kicker on the football team), his MBA from Old Dominion University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia.
In his current position, he represents and coordinates the firm’s work for numerous Fortune 500 companies and is a go-to lawyer called on to defend the state in significant cases. His 10-year-running Virginia “Rocket Docket” article in Law360 is widely read by lawyers practicing in the Eastern District of Virginia.
Tata serves on the Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia advisory board and is a past president of the Virginia Beach Bar Association.
