In June, Wallig added a new job title: head of public policy for Chicago-based global accounting firm Grant Thornton. He continues to lead Grant Thornton’s Washington, D.C.-Arlington office as well, a position he took in 2018, 13 years after joining the company.

As public policy head, Wallig will develop Grant Thornton’s advocacy strategy, lead Capitol Hill outreach and manage the firm’s government affairs team. Grant Thornton employs 372 people in Virginia and 68,517 worldwide. It had revenues of $2.42 billion in the U.S. and $7.2 billion globally in fiscal 2022.

Wallig earned his undergraduate degree from William & Mary, where he serves as vice chair for the Mason School of Business’ Business Analytics Advisory Board. He is currently pursuing an MBA at Georgetown University. A co-chair for the Global Fund for Children, Wallig also serves on the Rosslyn Business Improvement District board.

FIRST JOB: Picking strawberries in rural Oregon. I was 11 and paid by the pound picked. I have stuck with office jobs since.

SOMEWHERE I’D LIKE TO VISIT: Africa and Antarctica are the only continents I haven’t visited, so I would love to visit either.
