Virginia Business// August 30, 2023//
Kuhn was just a teenager when he started JK Moving, which has grown into North America’s largest independently owned and operated moving company. Employing more than 1,000 workers, it was ranked best moving company for 2023 by U.S. News & World Report.
In addition to his business successes, Kuhn is also known for his land conservation efforts and enthusiasm for the region’s data center industry. In December 2022, Kuhn and his wife, Stacy, placed 3,200 acres in Loudoun County into conservation easement, bringing the couple’s total protected land to 22,000 acres. He also proposed an 81-acre data center project in Gainesville in May, but data center expansion has faced pushback in Prince William County.
Kuhn has received numerous accolades for civic leadership, including the Loudoun Laurels Medal and Old Dominion Land Conservancy’s preservation award. He also serves as board president of The JK Community Farm, a nonprofit run by his daughter, Samantha, that donates 100% of its products to local food banks.
