The American Association of Physicists in Medicine is relocating its headquarters from College Park, Md., to Alexandria, bringing a total of 25 employees to the area.
The nonprofit plans to purchase and make improvements to more than 12,000-square-feet of space at 1631-33 Prince St. in Alexandria. The new location is near the King Street Metrorail station.
The association will receive $7.7 million in bond financing from Alexandria's Industrial Development Authority to purchase, renovate and furnish the office. It is buying the building from Inter-Con Security, a California-based private security company.
The American Association of Physicists in Medicine is a scientific and professional organization serving more than 8,000 scientists.
