A graduate of Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University, Hanson moved ASGN’s headquarters to Henrico County from California in 2020, after he became CEO of the Fortune 1000 IT and professional staffing services company firm in 2019. He previously worked for Apex Systems, one of ASGN’s subsidiaries, becoming chief financial officer. After Apex was bought by ASGN in 2012, Hanson became executive vice president of the parent company and then president in 2016.
ASGN has nearly 9,000 employees worldwide, including more than 3,000 in Virginia, and in fiscal 2022 it earned $4.6 billion in revenue. Last year, ASGN acquired Iron Vine Security, a Washington, D.C.-based cybersecurity firm, and Massachusetts IT company GlideFast Consulting.
Hanson serves on the advisory council for the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, and he co-founded and is an emeritus board member of the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs, also at Virginia Tech.
