In 2017, when Alice Frazier became president and CEO of Charles Town, West Virginia-based Bank of Charles Town and its parent company, she was among a select group of only 47 women nationwide who lead banks, and the first woman to run BCT. The bank has four offices in Loudoun County, including two in Leesburg; Frazier works out of both BCT’s Leesburg and Charles Town offices.

“Throughout my 33 years as a banker, much of which has been in the C-suite, I found myself as one of a very few women in a room full of male bankers,” Frazier says. “At those times, I lean on the examples I learned from my mother — take the initiative, be a team player at all times and stand tall.”

With more than 32 years of local banking experience, Frazier oversees the full-service personal and commercial bank BCT, which has $790 million in assets with offices in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.

She has largely dedicated her career to the banking industry and has held executive leadership positions with Cardinal Financial Corp., BB&T and Middleburg Financial Corp. Frazier currently serves on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), chairing the latter’s Bank Operations committee. She is also a past chairman of the Virginia Association of Community Banks.

Locally, Frazier serves as treasurer for the Loudoun County Economic Development Authority and is on the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce’s board. But what her employees admire about her is that she “gives her employees a career rather than a job, and helps them grow and be promoted from within,” according to her nominator. In fact, Frazier says that several of her former direct reports now hold senior- and executive-level positions at other local financial institutions.
