The Hopewell Downtown Partnership is accepting applications for a business launch program scheduled to begin this spring.

The program will include an eight-week class and a chance to compete for a share in more than $70,000 in seed-money grants and additional prizes.

The partnership invites anyone interested in starting or expanding a business in downtown Hopewell to apply.

The program is the result of the Community Business Launch initiative unveiled in December by Gov. Terry McAuliffe as part of his economic development plan.

Hopewell, Staunton and Gloucester were given $100,000 each for small business development.

The Hopewell Downtown Partnership is accepting applications through the end of February. Ten to fifteen participants will be selected out of the applicant pool.

The eight-week class begins March 10. The grant money will be divided among two to four winners.

Entrepreneurs can apply online at www.hopewelldowntown.com.
