A Richmond-based startup is one of only 15 companies from around the world that has been chosen to participate in Google for Entrepreneurs’ Startup Next Demo Day.
Uvest Solar will pitch its business concept to investors and accelerators at the private event, which will be held Feb. 26 in Palo Alto, Calif.
Uvest Solar is an investment platform that uses crowdfunding to raise money for building solar energy projects for schools and nonprofits. “We’re trying to bring back local investment to Main Street and support the schools at the same time,” says Blue Crump, Uvest Solar's CEO.
Crump’s firm was accepted into the Startup Next pre-accelerator program last fall. Out of that group, Google chose 100 finalists, which were narrowed to the 15 startups that were selected for the demo day.
Google for Entrepreneurs is a program sponsored by Google, which provides entrepreneurs with financial support and resources.
