Chandler partnered with well-known Richmond executives Jim Ukrop and Bob Mooney in 2011 to build a venture capital firm initially called New Richmond Ventures.

The firm, which shortened its name to NRV, provides counseling, connections and capital to early-stage companies.

In 2017, NRV launched its Early Stage Growth Fund LP, assembling $33 million from 83 investors. Ario Technologies Inc., creators of Norfolk-based Ario, which produces augmented reality software tools, and organic meat producer Farmer Focus are among the companies to receive funding from NRV.

Additionally, Chandler co-chairs RVA757 Connect, the Richmond and Hampton Roads regional collaborative.

Previously, Chandler served as chairman and CEO of Richmond-based LandAmerica Financial Group Inc., one of the country’s largest real estate services companies, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2008. A class action lawsuit against Chandler and several other LandAmerica officers and directors alleging breaches of fiduciary duties was settled in 2015.

Earlier in his career, Chandler worked as an attorney for Williams Mullen, specializing in corporate law, mergers and securities. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Virginia before heading to the University of Richmond for law school.
