A 2005 Penn State University graduate who holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and has worked for Gilbane for 19 years, Reed was promoted to head up the construction firm’s Richmond office in April.
With 2,800 employees worldwide (125 in Virginia) and $6 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2021, Gilbane is responsible for some high-profile projects in the commonwealth, including the General Assembly Building renovation; the expansion of Altria Group’s corporate headquarters in Henrico County; and the construction of the University of Virginia’s School of Data Science and a new U.Va. hotel and conference center.
“It’s an exciting time to be building in Central Virginia, given the strength and competitiveness of the state’s business sector and the continued investment in our higher education institutions,” she said in a statement after her promotion.
A registered architect, she previously served as an operations manager for Gilbane, leading construction projects for clients in the defense, health care and life sciences industries. She succeeds Colin Robinson, who has moved into an operations role as a senior project executive.
