Mid-Atlantic region homebuilder HHHunt Homes said Thursday that it has named Laurence P. Wisdom as company president.
Wisdom brings more than 26 years of homebuilding industry experience to the position.
He will work from HHHunt Homes’ Richmond office, providing strategic leadership to divisional operating entities and associates. Responsibilities will include land acquisition, market research, analysis and forecasts, team member recruitment and training, cost control, scheduling and safety, and leading multiple major profit centers.
“Nearly 20 months ago, we began a process to reorganize our homebuilding operations for future growth. We searched for a special candidate who has the experience and capacity to lead the company through our notable evolution,” said Daniel T. Schmitt, president and chief operating officer of HHHunt, parent company of HHHunt Homes, said in a statement.
“Larry is a perfect fit.’’
Wisdom comes to HHHunt from Essex Homes, a private homebuilder in Columbia, S.C., that’s ranked as the nation’s 76th largest builder. There, he was the first non-owner president of the company’s Columbia Division.
Before joining Essex, Wisdom was the first non-owner president of Keystone Custom Homes in Lancaster, Pa. Under his leadership, and coinciding with the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, Keystone Custom Homes became the 111th largest homebuilder in the U.S.
HHHunt Homes, one of the largest home building companies in the mid-Atlantic region, owns single-and multi-family developments in major metropolitan areas throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
Its parent company, HHHunt, is a diversified regional real estate development and management company with residential communities in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland. It has primary offices in Blacksburg, Richmond and Raleigh, N.C., and employs more than over 1,800 people.
