InTown Suites buys four extended-stay hotels in Hampton Roads

Atlanta-based InTown Suites has bought four extended-stay hotels in Hampton Roads.

The hotels, formerly Savannah Suites properties, are located in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News and Norfolk.

The acquisition, completed last month, gives InTown Suites eight locations in the region, with more than 1,000 suites.

Financial details about the transaction were not disclosed.

The Atlanta company describes itself as a leading provider of apartment alternative accommodations,

InTown Suites currently employs 55 people in the Hampton Roads area and nearly 70 in Virginia.

The recent purchase is expected to add 27 employees to its Virginia workforce.

The company said it is making a “substantial capital investment” in the acquired buildings.

Improvements include 42-inch HDTVs in every room at each hotel and the replacement of more than 150 room air conditioners/heaters with larger, more efficient units.

The company also plans to add high-speed Wi-Fi to the hotels.

InTown Suites entered the Hampton Roads market in 1997 when it opened a 133-suite hotel in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake.

The company has 139 locations offering more than 17,500 rooms in 21 states .
