Previously executive director of corporate development for the Advisory Board Co., Blackley co-founded health care software company Evolent Health in 2011 in Arlington with the goal of partnering with payers and providers to reduce the total cost of health care. By 2015, Evolent became a publicly traded company and was added to the New York Stock Exchange. The company’s market value is $2.6 billion.
In 2020, Blackley became CEO of Evolent after serving as president, and last year, Walgreens considered acquiring the company, according to a report by Bloomberg News. That deal did not materialize, but last year Evolent purchased New Jersey-based telehealth company Vital Decisions for $85 million from the private equity firm WindRose Health Investors. It became part of Evolent’s New Century Health subsidiary focused on oncology and cardiology.
Blackley earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina.
In 2021, for the second year in a row, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation named Evolent Health among the best places for LGBTQ+ people to work.
