As Wells Fargo’s president in Northern Virginia, McLaughlin oversees 100 branch locations and more than 700 employees.
A member of Virginia Tech’s Class of 2000, McLaughlin joined Wachovia in 2004, working as a licensed financial specialist in Richmond. McLaughlin became Wells Fargo’s area president in Washington, D.C., in 2011, following the bank’s 2008 acquisition of Wachovia and was later given additional responsibility for the Northern Virginia market. In 2017, McLaughlin became region bank president and his market expanded further south and west. Four years later, his market expanded again and now encompasses the western half of Virginia.
In 2020, McLaughlin helped to develop the Pain to Purpose call series, co-leading discussions about how to expand Wells Fargo’s diversity, equity and inclusiveness.
Ranked No. 41 on the Fortune 500, Wells Fargo is the third largest bank in the U.S. The company has about $1.9 trillion in assets.
