Two hundred eighty-four Virginia companies have made the Inc. 5000 list of the nation’s fast-growing businesses.


In the top 100 this year were Virginia-based Reliant Asset Management (No. 3); Prescient Edge (No. 18); sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt (No. 22) and American Care Partners (No. 96).


El Segundo, Calif.-based Fuhu was once again the fastest-growing company on the list. The company is the creator of Nabi, an Android tablet for children, and Fooz Kids, a parent-controlled application for kids.

Virginia ranked fifth among the states with the most companies on the list behind California (694 companies); Texas (404); New York (335) and Florida (303).


According to Inc., Arlington-based Reliant Asset Management builds, acquires, and leases commercial modular office buildings, schools, hospitals, and temporary structures. It had a three-year growth rate of 55,460 percent, growing from $153,125 in revenue in 2010 to $85 million in 2013.  In that same period, the company hired 141 employees bringing its current workforce total to 145.


McLean-based Prescient Edge’s three-year growth rate was 11,498 percent, going from $106,186 in revenue in 2010 to $12.3 million in 2013.  During that time, Prescient Edge added 39 employees and now employs 42 people.  The company offers intelligence, technology and security services to corporate, federal and international clients.


Richmond-based sweetFrog was the only Virginia company in the top 100 not based in Northern Virginia. The frozen yogurt chain recorded a three- year growth of 10,372 percent, increasing revenues from $328,334 in 2010 to $34.3 million in 2013. The firm added 782 jobs from 2010 to 2013 and currently employs 790 workers.


American Care Partners, a home health-care agency in Falls Church, had a three-year growth rate of 3,657 percent. Its revenues jumped from $175,160 in 2010 to $6.6 million in 2013. From 2010 to 2013, the firm added 176 employees bringing its current total to 192.
